ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND SELECTION CRITERIA

The admission requirements for the undergraduate programme in interlingual communication are defined in line with Article 115 of the Statute of the University of Ljubljana.

The following persons may apply for the undergraduate programme:

a) Those that have passed the upper secondary-school leaving exam (matura),

b) Those that completed any four-year secondary school programme prior to 1 June 1995.

To qualify for the undergraduate programme in interlingual communication, it is recommended that candidates have taken the upper secondary-school leaving exam in both foreign languages or to have completed a four-year secondary school programme that comprises 420 hours in the first foreign language and 280 hours in the second foreign language.

If there is greater demand than there are places available, the university’s admissions office shall rank applicants according to the following criteria:

For applicants under a) above:

  • Overall score in the leaving exam 30%
  • Grade average in years 3 and 4 10%
  • Score on the leaving exam in foreign language 1 10%
  • Score on the leaving exam in foreign language 2 10%
  • Grades in years 3 and 4 in foreign language 1 15%
  • Grades in years 3 and 4 in foreign language 2 15%
  • Grades in years 3 and 4 in Slovene 10%

For applicants under b) above:

  • Overall score in the leaving exam 30%
  • Grade average in years 3 and 4 20%
  • Grades in years 3 and 4 in foreign language 1 20%
  • Grades in years 3 and 4 in foreign language 2 20%
  • Grades in years 3 and 4 in Slovene 10%

Note: Foreign language 1 is the first foreign language for the option chosen (English), and foreign language 2 is the second foreign language (German, French, or Italian).
