  • 1997 – organisation of the international conference Translating into Non-Mother Tongues, marking the establishment of the new Department of Translating and Interpreting at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana
  • 1997 – the department registers its first undergraduate students of translation in premises above the Pod lipo inn (Borštnikov trg 3) close to the main faculty building
  • 1999 – organisation of the 32nd conference of the Linguistic Society of Europe Societas Linguistica Europea

  • 2004 – acceptance into the association CIUTI - 2004 – organisation of the international conference Onkraj ekvivalence / Jenseits der Äquivalenz / Oltre l'equivalenza
  • 2005 – acceptance into the EMT consortium
  • 2005 – accreditation of 4 Bologna programmes (Interlingual Mediation (BA), Translation (MA), Interpreting (MA), Translation Theory (PhD))
  • 2006 – the department moves to new premises on the ground floor of the Faculty of Arts at Aškerčeva 2
  • 2007 – organisation of the international conference Why Translation Studies Matters, the 5th congress of the European Society for Translation Studies

  • 2009 - The department and other founding members establish EULITA, the European Legal Interpreters and Translators Association.
  • 2010 – the acquisition of new space and equipment for teaching conference interpreting
  • 2010 – the establishment of the series Translation Studies and Applied Linguistics at the Research Institute of the Faculty of Arts, the first such collection in Slovenia

  • 2010 – accreditation of the joint MA programmes in Translation and Interpreting with the University of Graz, and the joint MA programme in Translation with INALCO and ISIT (France)
  • 2010 – acceptance into the EMT network (until 2014)
  • 2012 – establishment of EMUNI, international translation summer school for doctoral students and teachers of translation, in Piran - 2013 – organisation of STRIDON, the second international translation summer school for doctoral students and teachers of translation, in Piran
  • 2013 – establishment of the TransTech international summer school - 2013 – reaccreditation of the programmes Interlingual Mediation (BA), Translation (MA), Interpreting (MA) until 2020 at the latest - 2014 – reacceptance into the EMT network (to 2019)
  • 2014 - graduates of translation programmes are eligible for professional accreditation by the Association of Scientific and Technical Translators of Slovenia
