Course Description

Objectives and competences

  1. - to develop high competence in translating and understanding French and Slovene texts;
  2. - to develop high cultural competences for French and Slovene language and culture;
  3. - to develop high technical and professional competences in translating literary and non-literary texts;
  4. - to develop competences in the description and theoretical analysis of translation processes, which students can use for didactic and research purposes;
  5. - to develop competences necessary to work individually and in a group, and to apply the principles of professional ethics.

The module is composed of the following seminars:

1. Translating literary texts and texts for the arts and humanities

Prerequisites

  1. Enrollment in the first year of the MA programme in Translation/Interpreting.

Assessment 

Translation out of French: Students are required to do translations and seminars for homework or at school as tests (40 % of the final grade); the remaining 60% of the grade is obtained in an examination.
