Course Description

Objectives and competences

- to develop high competence in translating and understanding French and Slovene texts;
- to develop high cultural competences for French and Slovene language and culture;
- to develop high technical and professional competences in translating literary and non-literary texts;
- to develop competences in the description and theoretical analysis of translation processes, which students can use for didactic and research purposes;
- to develop competences necessary to work individually and in a group, and to apply the principles of professional ethics.

The module is composed of the following seminars:

Registration in the second year of the MA programme in Translation.


Type (examination, oral, coursework, project). The final grade is composed of two positive grades for each seminar:
Translation out of French: Students are required to do translations and seminars for homework or at school as tests (40% of the final grade); the remaining 60% of the grade is obtained in an examination.
Forms of marking: 6-10 or A-E (positive grade), 1-5 or F (negative grade). The assessment is in line with the Statute of the University of Ljubljana and the examination regulations of the Faculty of Arts.
