Course Description

Objectives and competences


The students develop the following:

  • advanced competences in French;
  • competences in language problem solving;
  • the ability to describe and theoretically analyse language principles;
  • competences in the use of adequate language resources;
  • the ability to identify the grammatical structure of French as the basis for practical translation;
  • the ability to analyse grammatical elements in a text.

Content (Syllabus outline)

French Grammar 4:

The course consists of two parts

a)    French grammar 4 – lectures

b)    French grammar tutorials

Students gain familiarity with those parts of speech which have not yet been discussed in French I, II and III (pronouns, adjectives and adverbs) as well as with the structure of the prepositional phrase. Students are encouraged to compare grammatical categories of French and Slovene and to consider the different ways of expressing selected elements of French grammar in Slovene and to consider the different ways of expressing certain elements of French grammar in Slovene. During the tutorials, students practice the chapters dealt within lectures on practical examples

Previous enrollment in the French III course.



The exam covers the content of French Grammar 3 and French Grammar 4.

Assessment scale: 6–10 (positive) or 1–5 (negative); in line with the Statute of the University of Ljubljana and the faculty's examination rules.
