Course Description

Objectives and competences

  • the ability to use different strategies for translation of the selected genres or text types;
  • the ability to recognise fundamental genre characterics of the selected text type;
  • the ability to recognise and deal with complex lexical problems;
  • the ability to compose, optimally use and systematically and critically assess different dictionaries;
  • the ability to differentiate between the general and specific terms
  • through observation of terminological processes the development of the ability to form new terms in language A and language B
  • the ability to recognise the basic features of the subtitling.

Students choose four subjects from the selection below (the selection of Translation Technologies and Consecutive interpreting and community interpreting - basic skills is obligatory). The subjects that are part of the module are the following:

6.         Translation Technologies
7.          Consecutive interpreting and community interpreting - basic skills

Prerequisits

Registration in the first year of the MA programme in Interpreting.

Assessment

The final grade is composed of the four positive grades from each seminar.
