Course Description

Objectives and competences

  • To develop the ability to write and understand Slovene and German texts;
  • To develop cultural and language competences for German and Slovene;
  • To develop technical and professional competences for translation of both texts for the arts and for other purposes;
  • To develop students’ ability to analyse and comment on different texts which they can use in training or as practising translators;
  • To develop the ability to work independently or in a team and to behave in accordance with professional ethics at the national and international levels.

Seminars forming the module are:
1.         Translation into German: General texts II
2.         Translation of EU texts 
3.         Translation of promotional texts (Slovene>German)
4.         Translation of literary texts II
5.         Translation of legal texts II
6.         Translation of business and political texts II
Detailed content descriptions of individual seminars forming the module are given in separate descriptions of these seminars.


Basic literature for individual seminars is given in separate descriptions of these seminars.


Registration in the second year of the MA programme in Translation.


The final module grade is composed of two positive grades in individual seminars.
In individual seminars, students are required to do translations and seminars for homework or in class as tests (50 % of the final grade);
the remaining 50% of the grade is obtained in an examination.
