Course Description

Objectives and competences

  1. - Introduction to basic lexicological terminology
  2. - foregrounding of the role of lexicology within translation
  3. - comprehension of the role of corpus linguistics in contemporary lexicology and lexicography
  4. - the notion of partial translation equivalence
  5. - recognition, analysis and solution of lexical translation problems
  6. - development of efficient skills of dictionary use
  7. - evaluation of dictionaries and other lexical resources
  8. - distinguishing between expressions with specific reference and general ones
