Course Description

Objectives and competences

  • Ability to use all previously acquired language competencies to produce even the most difficult texts in German;
  • Ability to consolidate and improve expressive capabilities;
  • Training of oral communication / speech skills;
  • To improve reading skills;
  • To enhance vocabulary in German;
  • To deepen knowledge of collocations;
  • Training of analytical skills in the field of word formation, text composition and style;
  • Recognition and analysis of rhetorical figures and devices, such as irony, metaphor, symbols, etc.;
  • Recognition of culture-specific features of the language and the text;
  • Consolidation of the social and cultural background knowledge dealt with in the respective texts.


Content (Syllabus outline)

- Analysis of German texts from different thematic areas.
- Use language skills to deal with different topics.
- Discussion / paper on given topic.
- Certain aspects of German grammar.
- Special stylistic features of the language.
- Culture-specifics of the text.
- Intercultural dimension of working as a translator.
