Objectives and competences

Content (Syllabus outline)

The focus will be on:

  • the problematic definition of the term “literature” and “literary translation”;
  • the concepts of intertextuality and literary stylistics;
  • the importance of sound and typography in the text;
  • prosody (rhythm and metre) and rhetoric;
  • poetic devices (rhyme, alliteration, assonance);
  • different figures of speech
  • different narrative techniques, point-of-view;
  • different poetic forms and genres;
  • different approaches to translating poetry, prose and drama.
