Objectives and competences

The course offers specialised skills of translating software and web sites.

Content (Syllabus outline)

Introduction to localisation. Localisation, globalisation, internationalisation. Terminology resources in the field of ICT. Web sites, HTML, web forms, web programming. Localising web sites. TRADOS TagEditor and translating tagged formats. Alchemy Catalyst and translating GUIs. Project work - translating a software package for a real-world client.

Prerequisits

Registration in the second year of the MA programme in Translation.
High level of ICT literacy is beneficial. Involvement in the project is a prerequisite for the exam.
