Translation: Paris (MA)

Joint Master's Degree Programme Translation (Slovene-English-French) has been developed by the Department of Translation, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, ISIT (Institut supérieur d’Interprétation et de Traduction) and INALCO (Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales), Paris. INALCO, the only Higer Education institution in France teaching the Slovene language, and ISIT for the purpose of the joint degree designed a common curriculum that combines translation and translation studies courses with those of Slovene language and culture. The new joint programme Translation combines the courses of that new French programme and those of the already existing MA programme in translation at the University of Ljubljana. ISIT and the Department of Translation, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana are both members of the international association of Higher Education institutions teaching translation and interpreting CIUTI which proves their internationally recognized high quality in teaching standards. The joint degree builds on the already existing MA programmes in translation and offers the students a selection of the best elements at all three institutions. The additional virtue of the joint degree is that students have to spend at least one semester studying at the partner institutions and gather at least 30 ECTS points. The students thus not only get into direct contact with the culture and language of both languages they work with but also benefit from a wide selection of translations seminars at all three institutions.
